◆Tominaga Bond – Profile

Born in 1983 in Fukuoka, Japan. Currently based in Taku City, Saga Prefecture.

Tominaga Bond is a contemporary artist and painter, best known as the founder of “Bond Art®,” a one-of-a-kind painting technique that uses wood glue as the primary medium.

His central creative themes are “Tsunagari (Connection)” and “Majiwari (Interweave).”

Through live painting, mural projects, art therapy, and community revitalization initiatives, his mission remains constant: to connect people with people, and people with art.

From an early age, he was fascinated by spatial design and drawing. In high school he studied programming, in vocational school furniture design, and later information technology at university. After working for a furniture manufacturer, he became a graphic designer and immersed himself in hip-hop culture.

In 2009, during a live music event, he first experimented with painting using wood glue in a live-painting performance. The unique, glossy, three-dimensional textures that emerged under light became the hallmark of his original technique, which he named “Bond Art®.”

He began conducting creative workshops at schools, community events, music festivals, welfare centers, and hospitals. The simplicity of the process and its capacity to provide empowering “success experiences” quickly gained popularity—today, over 50,000 people have created their own Bond Art works.

In 2014, he founded Art Studio Bondva, a multi-purpose 800-tsubo (approx. 2,600 m²) facility in downtown Taku that includes a bar, gallery, shop, and atelier. He also launched the “Taku City Wall Art Project”, a community revitalization initiative that attracts visitors from across Japan through art-driven urban renewal.

The same year, his long-running radio program “Tominaga Bond’s RADIO Bondva” began broadcasting, and continues today.

Between 2014 and 2016, he set his sights on international expansion, exhibiting at major global art fairs such as Art Expo New York and Art Shopping at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. His works received high acclaim, leading to a gallery representation contract abroad.

In 2019, he established Bond Graphics Inc., a company dedicated to contributing to the fields of healthcare and community development through art-based business activities.

In 2022, prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Tominaga began live-streaming and producing short-form videos. His online presence rapidly expanded nationwide, leading to solo exhibitions and pop-up shows at department stores, galleries, and malls across Japan.

His guiding phrase is:

“No failure in Art.”

There is no failure in art—only connection, creation, and growth.

He named his unique method “Bond Art®,” characterized by textured, three-dimensional lines that shine under light. In 2019, he founded Bond Graphics Inc., a company built on the philosophy of contributing to medical welfare and local communities through art-centered business.

In 2022, spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, he began live streaming and producing short videos, rapidly gaining recognition nationwide beyond Kyushu. Since then, he has held solo exhibitions and pop-up events at department stores, art galleries, and malls throughout Japan.

His key phrase:“No failure in Art. (There is no failure in art).”

(Francais)

Sa devise :« No failure in Art. (Il n’y a pas d’échec dans l’art). »
